Week 4: Saints at Bills
The Buffalo Bills find themselves sitting atop the AFC standings. They’re 3-0 and are looking to remain undefeated against the New Orleans Saints in week 4.
Despite the current narrative surrounding the Saints and their abysmal 0-3 record, no team in the NFL should be taken lightly. This is a textbook “trap” game for Buffalo.
To stay undefeated, Buffalo needs to play their “Complimentary” brand of football. A clean game in all three phases is integral to the Bills success this weekend.
Defensively, Buffalo’s focus should be on stopping veteran running back Alvin Kamara, forcing Spencer Rattler to make plays with his arm. I’d like to see the Bills defensive front put pressure on Rattler, shorten his time to throw and ultimately cause turnovers that can allow Josh Allen and company to capitalize on short fields throughout the game.
Offensively, I’d expect the usual balanced attack with slightly more emphasis on the running game. Look for the Bills to try and establish the run early and ride their success to control game flow and dominate time of possession. Now, it’s always fun to watch Josh Allen launch balls downfield and make plays with his arm. I do think Sunday will feature slightly less of that. I’d expect 17 to take the easy throws that the defense gives him and methodically march down field in tandem with James Cook. That’s not to say we won’t see Allen dropping bombs on the Saints secondary but this strikes me as a very similar game to week 2 against the New York Jets. Look for the Bills to set the tone on the ground and have the MVP make plays when needed.
My score prediction for Sunday is Bills 34- 20.
